Buyers have sensationally pulled the plug on the proposed £600m Wembley deal – after the stadium failed a medical.
Fulham owner Shahid Khan had planned to purchase the world-famous venue for his Jacksonville Jaguars NFL franchise, but cancelled the deal after discovering it was suffering from a rare personality disorder.
”It’s lacking any,” an insider told Swipe Football.
“It’s sad, but Wembley’s just not in the great shape it used to be.
“In its heyday it had the ability to single-handedly get tens of thousands of supporters off their feet, but nowadays it’s virtually lifeless.”
Disappointed FA officials argued that Wembley still had plenty to offer.
“Everybody who visits the iconic stadium goes home with an experience they will never forget,” argued an FA spokesman.
”Unfortunately, it’s nearly always about what a rip-off the fish and chips are.
”It’s a shame the deal has fallen through. We were planning on investing the profits back into grassroots football – after taking out our bonuses and expenses and covering costs, of course.
“But that’s still about £11 that kids from deprived areas will never get a share of.”
